Academic resources and strategies

Part 1.

Academic resources are important for students in the MSN program since it enhances their learning experiences through offering helpful learning opportunities, services and resources, and through encouraging a supportive campus community. There are three academic resources that are particularly useful to MSN students. The first resource is the libraries that offer literature in specific fields there by allowing students to access these resources. The libraries are offered as a physical building from which students can access hard copies of publications, and a virtual environment that only require students to use login information online through computer technology to access soft copies of publications. NURS-6003, week 3 Assignment, Academic success and professional development plan. The second resource is the students’ essentials portal that informs students about important dates in the university calendar and allows them to organize their personal and academic activities around these important dates. In addition, the portal contains the most current contact information for the student, academics and financial services to facilitate the student in managing his/her campus life. The third resource is the student center, an online portal that requires login information unique to each student and allows them to conduct registration and enrollment activities online (Jeffreys, 2012).

Part 2.

There are a range of professional resources that are available to nurses, informing them about the professional practice standards and policies within a jurisdiction. The first resource is the American Nurses Association (ANA) that presents the practices and policies on innovation and ethics that act as the foundation that allow the nursing profession to be trusted in the USA. In addition, ANA offers nursing certification that validates whether or not an individual has the skills required to be successful in the nursing profession. Besides that, ANA offers up-to-date information on the latest developments in health and nursing care. The second resource is the American Association of Colleges of Nursing that informs nurses about the latest trends in professional nursing education so that students are well informed about what a competent nursing education program entails and where to enroll for such programs. The third resource is job resource center that offers the tools, expertise, services and resources to allow nurses to conduct an effective job search within a defined geographical area (Georgia State University, 2019) NURS-6003, week 3 Assignment, Academic success and professional development plan.

Part 3.

The identified academic and professional resources are useful to nurses. The academic resources are available through online platforms thus allowing students to proceed with academic activities even when they are away from the school’s physical address. For instance, students can use the student center to register and enroll for academic programs without having to travel to the school. Secondly, it allows students to access academic material that would be difficult to access on their own without help. This is particularly true for the library that allows students to acquire textbooks and journal articles that would be expensive to purchase. Thirdly, it enhances the learning experience by offering customized course materials and ‘perfect’ course instructions that allow students to acquire useful skills and knowledge. As a result, the academic resources are convenient, allowing students to save on time and money while improving the learning experience (Jeffreys, 2012).

Professional resources are useful in informing students about the latest occurrences in the professional environment. NURS-6003, week 3 Assignment, Academic success and professional development plan. For instance, informing them about new practice requirements so that they are well prepared. In addition, they are useful for networking purposes, offering forums in which students can engage with each other and other nurses to exchange information and ideas. Besides that, they facilitate efforts to ensure that students conform to the legislative requirements for practice through summarizing these requirements and ensuring that they meet them. Finally, they are useful in regulating the practice environment and maintaining public trust since they take on the responsibility of policing practice and ensuring that only qualified and competent persons are allowed to practice (Jeffreys, 2012).
